Not just building schools, but building better teachers
We can make the greatest impact in Nepal after the earthquake by reimagining what is possible inside the classroom. That starts with providing teachers with training in early childhood education. Most teachers in Nepal receive inadequate government-sponsored training, or none at all.
The revolution starts with reading aloud
We encourage teachers to perform the simple act of sharing stories with their students. Children love it. Along the way, we introduce a valuable literacy training technique.
An educated woman can change the world
We want to give girls a chance for a better future. The same is true of our teachers. Rosy Lama, the principal of our first school, has grown up with us to become our head teacher trainer. Vivacious and determined, she is leading the charge in rural schools, inspiring teachers to be creative and engage their students.
