Three teachers; Shiva Nepal of Shanti Primary School, Lucy Shrestha of Janajagriti Primary School, and Bimala Dhakal of Suryodaya Primary School were selected as outstanding performers and each were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 and a certificate.
Shanti Primary School, Janajagriti Primary School and Suryodaya Primary School were declared as first, second and third respectively. They were awarded prizes that included educational materials worth Rs. 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 respectively. The prizes were distributed by the Shanti Education Initiative Nepal (SEI Nepal) Chairperson Rabindra Maharjan and the Chairperson of the Ramche Village Development Committee Bishnu Poudel.
A computer was handed over to the Shanti Primary School for its office use and classroom teaching. Interactive teaching CDs worth Rs. 5,000 were also handed over to the School Principal, Solmu Sherpa by SEI Nepal Chairperson.
The teachers were provided two phases of training from May 17-22, 2010 and from Aug 25-29, 2010 with the technical assistance of the Early Childhood Education Center, Nepal. This evaluation was carried for a month by Rajan Raj Subedi, the Project Coordinator of SEI Nepal and Padam Bahadur Basnet, the Resource Person of the Sharada Higher Secondary School, Barabise. Prior to organizing the evaluation, each of the eight participating schools were provided educational materials worth Rs. 5,000.
The program was attended by the VDC Chairperson, representative of the political parties, teachers and principals of the participating schools and representatives of the SEI Nepal. The program was chaired by SEI Nepal Chairperson, Rabindra Maharjan.
