Teacher Training scaled up

We have started teacher training program for the primary level teachers of all five schools of Nallu and Bhardeu village development committees of Lalitpur district from June 10, 2012 by organizing an interaction with the principals of the five participating schools. Trainers will impart the courses to the 21 participating teachers from June 18, 2012.

The training focuses on early childhood development philosophy and empowering the teachers to teach their classes in English medium. The training manual that is being used was developed by Mabindra Regmi, our chief trainer, after piloting it in Vishwamitra Ganesh Secondary School of Lubhu, Lalitpur for a year.

The training will focus on providing skills relevant for teachers to use in their classrooms. The trainers will observe each teacher in their classrooms and provide feedback to each of them. At the end of the training, incentives will be provided to teachers who perform best among the group.

Four trainers – Elsa Jha, Prity Shrestha Rajbhandary, Laxmi Byanjankar and Rosy Lama – who have extensive experience of dealing with the early childhood environment and teaching in English medium will be training the participating teachers.

Update:

Two rounds of training and school observations have been completed as of July 1, 2012.
