Santi School Project wins the 2012 LEAP Grants

Santi School Project has won the Better World Books’ 2012 LEAP Grant worth US$ 15,000 to implement teacher training and volunteer mobilization programs in public schools of Nepal. The winner has been selected through voting by fans of the Better World Books in Facebook for two weeks ending on June 25.

Santi School Project was short listed as one of the nine finalists for the grant after Better World Books reviewed of the applications submitted. The project aims to train about 100 teachers of the primary level and mobilize a 12 member corps of high school graduates to volunteer at the schools whose teachers are trained. The volunteers, in addition to helping the teachers conduct classes, will broaden the horizons of the students by exchanging ideas with them.
