Santi School Project began with a mission to build a school in an impoverished village in Nepal. Now we have evolved into an organization that strives to provide better educational opportunities to children all around Nepal. As part of this evolved mission, SSP has begun providing specialized early childhood teacher training to teachers in community schools where we operate.
The training is mainly for preschool and primary teachers. However, we involve headmasters and parents in the training to raise awareness about the importance of a good education in a child’s future.
The primary objectives our our training program are:
- To equip local schools and primary teachers with conceptual and practical knowledge about how to operate and manage an early childhood development class in a responsible, effective and child friendly manner.
- To equip local schools and primary teachers with skills and knowledge about development of young children, teaching techniques and methods.
- To empower parents with knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of their young children and to give them some tools to guide them as they bring up their children .
We began by providing training to teachers at Shanti Primary School, our first project. Then we expanded our program to include 25 teachers from eight surrounding schools in the community. We are currently completing the evaluation stage of the training and plan to conduct more training programs in other regions of the country.
