The Background
Bhatte Primary School, established in 1984, has about 100 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school is a 60-minute walk away from Ramche, the site of our first project.
The Need
The school currently has two blocks of classrooms. The first and the older block that was built more than 15 years ago is in a state of utter disrepair. During the rainy season the classrooms transform into a pool with water leaking from the old roof. The back wall is cracked at several places and could collapse any day. Due to this risk, classes are held in the field outside. Check out the pictures below for the conditions of the classroom.
The Solution
Our organization has received a commitment of $5,000 from Youth for Nepal, an organization based in the United States that supports initiatives in the field of education, environment, and health. The total project cost is estimated at around $10,000. The community will contribute an additional 25% through labor and material donation. Once finished, the new building will house four new classrooms that provide a clean and bright environment for the children of Bhatte Primary School.
